Steve Jobs said, “You can’t look at the competition and say you’re going to do it better. You have to look at the competition and say you’re going to do it differently”.
I truly believe this.
Sometimes “different” ends up being better, but if you approach things from the standpoint of being better, usually things just end up being the same. I think the overall goal is to stand out, forge your own path, and follow your passion by representing what your brand stands for. By taking these steps the end result will be a genuine and authentic upgrade that your market will enjoy and love. The approach to solve problems by being different, instead of being better, accomplishes an ideal end result far better than anything else I can imagine.
I want to create a product that is different and simultaneously solves some of the biggest problems end users have with the online dating industry. Although I don’t think the industry can still be classified as being in its infancy, I do think there is more room for innovation, change, and growth than many realize. These three things greatly excite me, and it’s in the spirit of this excitement, as well as my personal experiences and failures in the dating world, that I have decided to enter the online dating arena as an entrepreneur.
Currently, there’s almost an uncountable amount of dating sites and applications floating around out there “Cyber Space”. Even with the magic wand that is Google it would take me at least a week just to find and catalog them all. The short list below represents what I consider my biggest competitors.
After months of research and thought I have concluded I can create a product differently enough from my competition that it will stand out and be noticed. I am now on a mission to create a product I would have loved to use when I was single to help me find someone of quality and substance. No matter what happens, this is bound to be one hell of an adventure!
